When you hear the word forgiveness what do you think of?
Forgiveness can bring us great peace, joy and freedom.
Forgiveness is a necessary aspect of our physical, emotional and mental well-being.
When we do not forgive someone or some situation, we store that energy as a block in our bodies. We will continue to have feelings of being victims of other people and situations.
These feelings can affect our current relationships and peace of mind.
Medical researchers and psychologists had discovered that by holding resentments and old hurts leads to cancer and all sorts of physical illness, depression, addictions and dysfunctional behavior.
Forgiveness helps to create the space for renewals, and live a life free from bondage to the past.
Forgiveness can be a great challenge to embrace. To surrender and to let go of feelings we have perhaps held onto for the majority of our lives can mean a death of certain aspects of our old selves.
Simply trying to let go of the past by saying “ I’ll let bygones be bygones” doesn’t really enable us to come to a place of deep forgiveness. We may say that we’ve let the situation go, but we still hold true that the person did something wrong to us.
